Yunting Zhang (b. 1990, China) is an jeweler who lives and works in Amsterdam.
In this quickly changing technological world, we constantly need to negotiate our relationship with memory, identity, physical body, society, ect. Throughout her practice, Yunting caught between knowledge systems which make sense of the everyday in very different ways. The interpretation of her work reflect a personal caring ,curios and humorous touch upon more serious subject in her own culture context. She works out her own subject in various media- 2D and 3D, analogue and digital. Instead of focus on a static jewellery she approach the field of jewellery as an independent art form at the interface between applied arts and design. Showing the possibility to start from the story of contextualizing jewelry and the content to be expressed, and show different views in a diversified way rather than end up in a piece of single jewelry itself?
